Community General FAQs
1. What is openFuyao?
openFuyao is an open-source community focused on software technology innovation for general computing and intelligent computing clusters. It is dedicated to providing the world with diversified computing power cluster software ecosystems, unleashing infinite value of intelligence. The community aims to gather partners and developers through open collaboration, build diversified computing power interconnection and scheduling capabilities, achieve ultimate release of cluster computing power with security and reliability, incubate key software root technologies based on clusters, formulate unified and open technical standards, and co-create an efficient and innovative computing power cluster community.
Please refer to openFuyao Community Introduction.
2. What is the openFuyao Community Distribution?
The openFuyao community is dedicated to building an open software ecosystem for diversified computing power clusters, focusing on promoting efficient collaboration between cloud-native and AI-native technologies to facilitate the ultimate release of effective computing power. The openFuyao community distribution, with modular, lightweight, secure, and reliable design principles at its core, is deeply optimized based on the open-source Kubernetes platform. It provides out-of-the-box containerized cluster management capabilities, covering basic functions such as resource orchestration, elastic scaling, and multi-dimensional monitoring, meeting the operational needs of enterprise-level production environments.
The openFuyao community distribution adopts a "core platform + pluggable components" architecture, providing rich industry-grade high-value components through a built-in application marketplace, covering key capabilities such as intelligent/general computing hybrid scheduling, heterogeneous resource unified management, dynamic intelligent scheduling, and end-to-end observability enhancement. For AI and big data scenarios, it integrates computing power affinity acceleration components, significantly improving the execution efficiency of data-intensive tasks.
Its technical highlights include:
- Heterogeneous fusion: Supports multi-element computing power pooling and unified interface abstraction, breaking hardware architecture differences;
- Intelligent scheduling: Combines AI-driven dynamic resource allocation strategies to achieve optimal cross-cluster resource utilization;
- Scenario adaptation: Provides vertical scenario enhancement suites such as AI training and inference acceleration and big data analysis optimization, lowering business implementation thresholds;
- Ecosystem openness: Component-based design supports flexible expansion, is compatible with mainstream cloud-native toolchains, and ensures sustainable evolution of the technology stack.
Through the "lightweight core + ecosystem empowerment" model, the openFuyao community distribution helps enterprises quickly build efficient, elastic, and intelligent computing power infrastructure, reduces operational complexity in heterogeneous environments, and provides agile support for digital transformation.
3. How often does openFuyao release versions?
openFuyao releases two types of community versions, including Long-Term Support (LTS) versions and regular versions.
LTS versions are released once a year, with the community focusing on competitive feature development and long-term technical evolution. LTS versions are provided with one year of basic maintenance cycle and one year of extended maintenance cycle. Extended maintenance beyond the support period is jointly provided by commercial distribution members or self-use members and the community. Community members with requirements should submit version applications in Release Management SIG, and complete development and patch version releases with the help of community processes, infrastructure, and image release platforms. For longer-term maintenance requirements, please maintain them yourself or apply to TC for extended joint maintenance periods. Regular versions are released three times a year, with six months of community support.
Before the end of a single version lifecycle, users will receive advance notifications through community announcements and the Release Management mailing list.
4. What SIG groups does the openFuyao community have? How to join?
Currently, the openFuyao community has 17 SIG groups (special interest groups), each established for specific technical topics. Each SIG has one or more projects on GitCode, and these projects have one or more repositories where the SIG's deliverables are stored. SIG members can submit Issues, solve problems, participate in reviews, and more in the repositories, promoting deliverables to become part of the openFuyao community distribution.
For the SIG panorama, please see SIG Center. You can join a SIG of interest by subscribing to the SIG mailing list, attending public meetings, or directly contacting SIG maintainers. If you don't find a SIG that interests you among the existing SIGs, you can refer to the SIG Application Process to find two to three people in the openFuyao community with common goals to discuss establishing a SIG group and maintain software packages for a technical direction in the community or initiate incubation projects.
